Boycott Target!

I received this from my ex today. Time to tell those French snobs the low down. Take back your "gift" of the statue of Liberty, why? because the only "Liberty" you people relate to is a BOTTLE OF CHEAP PERFUME!

Read on...

Something to think about ....

Especially with the Christmas shopping season approaching!
Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.
'Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.

We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: 'Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education. (WOW!) <---my emphasis..

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general,do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance..

As a follow-up, I emailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate Headquarters and their response
was the same. That's their National Policy!

Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during a recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees
who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service..

Then as I dig further. TARGET is a French-owned corporation.

Now,I'm thinking again ...

If TARGET cannot support American Veterans, then why should My family and I support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars! And, have their profits sent to France

Without the American Vets, where would France be today?

'They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks'

Sincerely,
Dick Forrey
Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know to let Target know we don't
need them either!

Boycott Target if you are a true AMERICAN! I am fed up with our weak polititions bowing down to this so called "glogal economy. Hell, it's gobal rape of our country and it's time to make a stand and "Target" these corporate scum.

Cheers.

Do your homework. Don't spread malicious e-mail messages without looking for the facts first.

Snopes is a reliable source of true facts? Bullshit. Go to the new target at the Springfield Mall. ask them. Ask about their "Policy". You either are a French sympathizer or an idiot. Or BOTH.

My Opinion.

I know sometimes it's hard to admit it when you get something wrong. Especially when it's a trusted relative or friend or nice old Aunt Martha who sent you the information. It's easier just to yell louder and say nasty things. I think you're smarter than that and not one to emulate our last president in that regard.

I couldn't really care less about Target. Just another "Big Box" company that imports cheap stuff, treats their employees like dog crap, and care only about "The Bottom Line".

BTW, Happy Thanksgiving.

P.s. According to your Wiki link, this is posted:

"In 2004, the company's decision to bar the Salvation Army from soliciting donations at its stores generated much negative publicity (see Philanthropy section above). In addition, Target refuses to let Toys for Tots collect toys on their properties. Target said that, in the face of rising requests from other charities, it could no longer justify the exemption for the Salvation Army.[92]"

Wow.Guess Wiki is wrong also?

I work at Target. I would hate for people to boycott it for one reason, should the people who work there and need to earn a living be punished because of the corporate policies??? Maybe people need to stop and think the AMERICAN working people they would be HURTING by not shopping there. The more people boycott it, the more chances they will be hurting hard working people that work there and need to earn their money.

Alot of places dont like these donation places because they are finding out alot of times the money is not being spent as it should be. Many times, these bell ringers are spending money on the company they are ringing for and not the cause. So that is why alot of these corporate stores are not into allowing such things.

Wikipedia DOES lie. Most of their info is not based on fact as it is written from other internet users that add things from other internet related sources.

I am not an idiot, or a French sympathizer, I am a hard working AMERICAN who has no choice but to care about the economy as it stands and keeping her job to make ends meet. Regardless of company policies, etc. When you need to work, and are desperate, you take what you can to make money.

I dont agree with their policies, but when you need a job to pay the bills and put food on the table, as an AMERICAN, that is important to.

Also, there may be some Targets where their employees are treated like shit. The Target I work at people are treated great there. I work with a lot of great people. It is so far, the best job I have ever had. In fact, whether it was allowed or not, at OUR store, there was VIETNAM Vets donations for homeless vets right outside our store. If they didnt allow it, then they would not have bell ringers outside OUR store, or even have allowed the Homeless Vets to have a donation box outside. I dont know what it is like at other stores, but at our store, such donations have been allowed as I have donated to them myself outside the door.

Just thought I would bring that to your attention.

Look, 99% of the things that come into your inbox should probably be taken with a grain of salt. In this case, make it a bunch of sea salt, because it's a hoax. Specific stores may have policies, but it's not corporate policy. You'll see all kinds of things out there.

Really, think about it. In this day and age, the major news networks would be all over this. Vets? You bet. (The rest might get a pass for PC reasons, but not the vets).

These emails exist for one reason - to get your blood boiling. Don't play the game. Be better than the butt-head who started it, and reply to the friend or relative that sent it to you with a kind "please, check the facts - this isn't quite right". It'll go a long way to cooling you off, and give you good reason to get boiling the next time our vets DO get mistreated. Then I'll be right there with you.
